Facts and Figures

Research Focus

Ocean engineering is a multidisciplinary field that applies modern engineering principles to ocean and coastal environments. This area of engineering solves global issues related to: Offshore energy (both conventional and renewable); ship, autonomous and remote-operated marine vehicles; multi-use offshore platforms; coastal resiliency including multi-hazard readiness and beach restoration; and ports, harbors and shipping channels. Our faculty are world-renowned in their respective fields and remain active in projects spanning the gamut from the “Blue Economy” to “Engineering With Nature.”
